In Vienna, we saw one of the weaker results and performances for Switzerland. Melanie Rene only managed to get 4 points with “Time To Shine” and placed dead last in semifinal 2.
But luckily that won’t stop Swiss television to try their luck again. Today, Swiss Broadcaster SRF announced the participation of Switzerland and their mechanism for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden.
The system for 2016 will be the same as in 2015. The Swiss-German broadcaster SRF, Swiss-Romansh RTR, Swiss-French RTS and Swiss-Italian RSI will have open calls for songs to participate in “Die große Entscheidungsshow 2016”.
SRF/RTR will shortlist 10 songs which will continue to the second phase. RTS and RSI will do the same with 6 and 3 acts to be send to round 2 respectively.
The second round – “The Expert Check” – will see the 19 acts performing in front of a expert jury. The jury will then decide the 6 songs that will make it to the national final.
In the final on 13 February, the 6 finalists (3 from SRF/RTR, 2 from RTS & 1 from RSI) will perform in the Kreuzlingen Arena. Only the audience at home has the decision in their hands.
