According to OGAE Portugal, the national Portuguese broadcaster RTP is sticking with the famous show “Festival da canção” in order to find what will be the 48th entry of the Iberian country in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Although Portugal joined the contest over 50 years ago now, the country never managed to win a single time and is thus the oldest participant without a victory.
Its best score dated back to 19 years ago when Lúcia Moniz who was then 19 (too) reached 6th position with “O meu coração não tem cor”.
Moniz herself would go on to a career as an actress after a successful musical career in her home country. While most of her success was achieved in Portugal, she appeared as Aurélia in Love Actually, that you may have seen during the Christmas holidays.
More details about the Portuguese participation in the 60th Eurovision Song Contest shall be released very soon.
