Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (promoted theatrically as The Grinch) is a 2000 American musical fantasy comedy Christmas film from Universal Picturesand Imagine Entertainment, based on the 1957 story of the same name by Dr. Seuss. It was the first Dr. Seuss book to be adapted into a full-length feature film.
Frederic : Yet another Christmas film for which you need to be on something to fully enjoy. But at least there’s a story in this one. The fact that it’s a fairytale-like film makes it madness more excusable. It’s not an unpleasant story in the end but we can really see that Carrey overly enjoyed himself in this one. Watching this film is like watching a fairytale/Christmas version of The Exorcist.
Joshua: For me, there’s no doubt about it: Jim Carrey is The Grinch! I really like his performance in this movie. It’s like a fairytale movie with lots of madness. And I must say the cast in this movie is surprisingly good. The only seven-years-old Taylor Momsen is just fantastic.
Luke : Let’s get down to business, I love Dr. Suess, I love how his story’s are written in rhymes and I love how his characters are played out. The Grinch is a child hood favourite of mine and in any Jim Carrey film, he over performs his character which make its fantastic. With The Grinch he certainly has a clear character and eccentric grunt and he could work his way with the costume, unlike Mike Myers in The Cat in the Hat, this is enjoyable and jolly.
