About a Boy is a 2002 British-American comedy-drama film co-written and directed by brothers Chris Weitz and Paul Weitz. It is an adaptation of the 1998 novel of the same name by Nick Hornby. The film stars Hugh Grant, Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette, and Rachel Weisz. The film at times uses double voice-over narration, when the audience hears both Will’s and Marcus’s thoughts.
Frederic : Well it’s not overly about Christmas but it’s not much of a bad thing. It’s fresh, original, and doesn’t get old at all ! Serious matters in this film are very smoothly dealt with and the whole story feels very true. The miracle in this film is very rationalized and it really works.
Luke : It’s a fun and entertaining film and one of Hugh Grant’s finest films. The majority of his films are like jamming your hand in the car door (Nine Months and Mickey Blue Jean), others like Notting Hill and Four Weddings are fun to watch and show him as a rather fun character who always saying F**K this or S**T that. This film however is the best one he has done (together with Love Actually).
Joshua : “About a boy” was a surprise for me. Normally i’m not a Fan of Hugh Grant, but i changed My mind only for this movie. The Mixture of Comedy and Drama is Perfect. The only Thing that bugs me is that i never understood why they have chosen Nicholas Hoult to Play the Little boy. 8/10
